Meet your Biokineticist

Hi, I'm Madeleen

I'm a qualified Biokineticist and I've been proudly serving the Secunda community since 2009.

In private practice, I've worked across the full spectrum of Biokinetics with people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. That includes people recovering from injury or surgery, people managing chronic conditions, athletes, and those who simply want to feel better in their bodies.

“Exercise should be practical, enjoyable and tailored to you.”

My passion is helping people move better, feel stronger and live healthier, more active lives, with results that last.

FAQ

Questions people often ask

What does a Biokineticist do?
A Biokineticist is a registered health professional who uses exercise as treatment. Biokinetics helps you recover from injury or surgery, manage chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, and improve your strength, mobility and overall quality of life.
Is Biokinetics only for athletes?
Not at all. Madeleen works with people of all ages and fitness levels: office and shift workers, people recovering from surgery, people managing a health condition, older adults who want to stay independent, and athletes too.
What's the difference between a physiotherapist and a Biokineticist?
The two often work as a team. A physiotherapist usually helps in the early stage of recovery, with pain, swelling and getting movement back. A Biokineticist then focuses on the final phase: rebuilding strength, function and fitness so you can return to work, sport and daily life with confidence.
Will my medical aid pay?
Most medical aids are accepted. How much is covered depends on your plan and the benefits you have available, and some schemes need a referral or pre-authorisation. Use the medical aid checker above, or WhatsApp us and we'll help you check.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
You're welcome to contact Madeleen directly to book. Some medical aids require a referral before they will pay, so it's worth checking your scheme's rules. If you have a referral letter, please bring it along.
What should I wear and bring to my first visit?
Wear comfortable exercise clothes and trainers. Please bring your medical aid card, ID, any referral letters, recent scans or reports, and a list of the medication you take. You can also download the new patient form and fill it in beforehand. More for new patients →
