Knee & post-operative rehabilitation

Get back on your feet after surgery or a knee injury

A structured, step-by-step programme that rebuilds strength, movement and confidence after an operation or injury, guided by your surgeon's recommendations.

Why it matters

Surgery is step one. Rehab is how you get your life back.

Whether you've had a knee reconstruction, a joint replacement or a shoulder repair, the weeks and months after surgery decide how well you move afterwards. Rest on its own is not enough: muscles weaken quickly and joints stiffen without the right exercise.

As a Biokineticist, Madeleen picks up where early rehab leaves off. She works in line with your surgeon's and physiotherapist's guidance to rebuild strength, balance and function, one milestone at a time.

Meniscus repairs and knee arthroscopy
Knee and hip replacements

FAQ

Questions people often ask

When can I start biokinetics after surgery?
It depends on the operation and your surgeon's instructions. Many people start once the early, protected phase of rehab is done and their surgeon or physio has cleared them for more active exercise. If you're unsure, send Madeleen a WhatsApp and she'll guide you.
How long does rehab take?
Every surgery and every person is different. Some programmes take a few weeks; returning to sport after an ACL reconstruction usually takes many months. Madeleen will give you an honest idea of your timeline after your assessment.
Will my medical aid cover post-op rehab?
Most medical aids are accepted. Your cover depends on your scheme, your plan and your available benefits, and some schemes need a referral or pre-authorisation. We're happy to help you check.
Should I still see my physiotherapist?
Often, yes. Physiotherapists and Biokineticists work well as a team. The physio usually focuses on the early phase and Madeleen on rebuilding strength and function in the later phase.
