Why refer

The exercise phase of your patient's care

Biokineticists are HPCSA-registered health professionals who use prescribed, supervised exercise to restore function and manage chronic conditions.

Madeleen picks up where acute care ends: rebuilding strength and function after surgery or injury, and helping patients with chronic conditions exercise safely, with screening and monitoring.

She follows your protocols and precautions, and can keep you informed of your patient's progress with their consent.

Questions from referrers

Do patients need a referral to see a Biokineticist?
Patients can contact Madeleen directly. Some medical aids require a referral before they pay for Biokinetics, so a referral letter or form helps your patient claim.
What information is most useful in a referral?
The diagnosis or reason for referral, relevant history, any surgery with the date and procedure, precautions or contraindications, current medication, and your goals for the patient. The referral form covers all of these.
Can you work with my patient's existing treatment plan?
Yes. Madeleen works alongside doctors, surgeons and physiotherapists and follows your protocols and precautions.
